Dr. Sun (fanmade Street Fighter character & 2D animation test)

During my studies at Cologne Game Lab, I created a fan concept for a Street Fighter character based on the legendary Monkey King Sun Wukong (孙悟空) from Journey To The West (西遊記) by Wu Cheng'en (吴承恩). I tried to keep the colour palette simple and loud to match Street Fighter's art style.

I took classic depictions of Sun Wukong in classical Chinese arts, Chinese kung fu movies and other media and reinterpreted them into a concept of a mutated medical doctor. Naturally, as a fighter he fights in Monkey style kung fu!

I also did a rough lip sync test animation in 2D.
